Cryotherapy

What To Know About Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy is a minimally invasive treatment often used for early-stage skin cancer that has not spread. This treatment is also effective for actinic keratosis, warts, and superficial basal cell or squamous cell carcinomas.

During cryotherapy, the area is treated with very cold liquid gas (such as nitrogen or carbon dioxide between -346° F and -320° F). The gas instantly freezes the cancerous tissue before destroying it.

Cryotherapy treatment is done in the office, often as part of a regular exam. Cryotherapy typically only takes a few minutes to perform. Once completed, you can return to normal activities.
